Vengo dal Canada e sono ricercatore al Politecnico di Milano da ormai 7 anni. Per la mia ricerca uso il laser, “brucio delle cose” con il laser… ma in modo simpatico di solito. Vogliamo creare dei microdispositivi usando il fuoco del laser come la punta di una penna. L’innovazione della nostra tecnica è che abbiamo una risoluzione altissima e possiamo scrivere anche in 3d. Ci sono diverse applicazioni dei microdispositivi che possiamo creare, uno è l’ambiente: ad esempio possiamo creare una foglia ricreando una fotosintesi artificiale attraverso microcanali scritti sulla superficie di vetro. Un dispositivo che potrebbe essere un nuovo metodo green per creare energia.

Polytechnic for Expo
I come from Canada and I’ve been a researcher for Milan’s Polytechnic for seven years. For my research I use lasers, I burn stuff with lasers… usually in a fun way. We want to create microdevices using the laser’s focus as the point of a pen. Our technique’s innovation lies in the fact that we have a really high resolution and that we can also write in 3D. We can create microdevices for various applications, and one is the environment: for instance we can create a leaf by reproducing an artificial photosynthesis using microchannels written on a glass surface. A device that could be a new green method to create energy.
