The Expo site
Ci occupiamo di fotografia di architettura ed Expo è stato innanzitutto un punto di confronto per entrambi. Ne è venuto fuori un lavoro di ricerca e documentazione sul cambiamento molto stimolante perchè abbiamo potuto mettere a confronto un tipo di fotografia che applica un linguaggio sostanzialmente estetico sul costruito con una situazione in continua trasformazione come quella di un cantiere, una realtà viva fatta di macchine e persone.
Expo sicuramente per noi fotografi è un’ottima occasione per le opportunità di lavoro, ma è anche un evento da osservare e mostrare da diversi punti di vista, poichè offre una ricca e complessa varietà di possibili letture: noi abbiamo voluto evidenziare la capacità umana di costruire, indipendentente dalle polemiche.
Expo è un momento propizio temporaneo, e come tale se non viene colto potrebbe rimanere un’occasione mancata, un fatto effimero e temporale chiudendosi al termine dei sei mesi: meglio considerarlo un evento che va cavalcato e, certo, che finisce, ma questo fa anche parte della nostra vita di liberi professionisti. Sicuramente quello che viene capitalizzato in seguito sono i contatti e le esperienze. La lezione importante per tutti è che bisogna sempre trovare uno stimolo, un’idea, portarla avanti, proporla, diffonderla.

The Expo site
We work in the field of photography and architecture and for us both Expo has been first of all a moment of reflection. What came out of it was a very stimulating research and documentation work, because we were able to combine a kind of photography that applies a basically aesthetic language to built structures with a constantly evolving situation such as a building site, a living entity made of machines and people.
Expo is undoubtedly a great chance for us photographers in terms of work opportunities, but it’s also an event to observe and to show from different perspectives, because it offers a rich and complex range of possible readings: what we wanted to do was highlight the human ability to build, regardless of the controversies.
Expo is a fleetingly favourable moment, and if we don’t take it as such it could be a lost opportunity, a passing event that ends in six months: it would be better to consider it as something to take advantage of; it will end, but that is also part of our life as freelancers. What we will be able to capitalise on are the contacts and experience. The important lesson for all is that we should always find a spark, an idea, and then develop it, pitch it, spread it around.
